Ideal as a spawning site and hiding place for killifish. These are smaller than regular water hyacinths. The roots are short, but they will grow longer as the season progresses and reach the same size as regular water hyacinths. Notes Normally, water hyacinths wither in winter, but these have been overwintered using a special method to prevent them from dying. The color of the water hyacinth roots indicates: White: Newly grown, with slightly insufficient sunlight. Purple: Growing from white with the addition of sunlight. Black: Sufficient sunlight and nutrients. The order of growth is: leaves turn green with nutrients -> roots grow and develop. The water hyacinths listed here have healthy leaf color, but those with black roots may have roots from the previous year. Rarely, during shipping, the roots from the previous year may detach from the leaves due to impact. Even if the roots detach, as long as white roots are growing, they will develop properly with sunlight and nutrients, so please understand. Product Name: Water Hyacinth Suitable Water Conditions: Acidic to slightly alkaline, soft to slightly hard water, but not particularly picky about water quality. Water hyacinths are weak to insufficient sunlight and cold. Pay attention to sunlight exposure. They will grow year-round if the temperature is above 15°C (59°F). No comment is needed when purchasing. The photos are for illustration purposes. We will send items of similar size. We also have other floating plants for sale, so please take a look.
