SPF wood, known for its clear tone and unique resonant sound, has become difficult to obtain in good quality due to changes in the wood supplied to retailers, resulting in boards riddled with knots. Production will cease after the remaining 4 units are completed. I build amplifier and speaker cabinets in my spare time from my main work as a furniture maker. I selected SPF wood with few knots from commercially available stock and used high-quality linden plywood for the back panel. The sound is powerful, comparable to a 10-inch speaker. We recommend ceramic-type speakers. Speaker: 8-inch specification Body: SPF wood (15mm thick) Back panel: Linden plywood (15mm thick) Grille cloth: Guitar Amp Baffle board: MDF (12mm thick) Speaker mounting screws: (4-point mounting, 5x20 truss head small screws included) Speaker mounting hole pitch: 197mm Wiring: Switchcraft #11 mono phone jack, insulated washer with shoulder, plastic insulated washer, jack plate (may have scuffs even when new), BELDEN 9497, Faston terminals (Audio Technica TL205M, 5.2mm male side), Kester44 solder used Rubber feet: Commercially available Finish: Oil stain (walnut color), urethane sanding sealer base coat, urethane half-flat finish top coat Dimensions: W400 x D210 x H310 (including 10mm rubber feet) Weight: 3.7kg The meticulous construction ensures a solid build that contributes to the sound. We hope you will enjoy this cabinet as a base for experimenting with different speakers and wiring, and for finding your preferred tone. The wood grain is continuous as the cabinet is assembled from a single board. The older growth rings are on the outside of the cabinet, just as they were when the tree grew. The main body is joined using half-blind dovetail joints. While I strive for careful craftsmanship, please assess the item from the photos, as there may be scratches, dents, warping, chips, cracks, uneven coloring, finish inconsistencies, or speaker mounting marks from the manufacturing process. Please note that speakers are not included. Shipping will be via Yamato Transport (cash on delivery for shipping fees, with drop-off discount applied). Click here for the manufacturer's site
