KING 2B Liberty SP - 1970s KING JIGGS WHIGHAM 1A - For Small Bore Estimated from the serial number, this is a KING 2B Liberty manufactured in the 1970s, and it features a silver-plated finish, which is becoming increasingly rare on trombones. KING was formerly part of United Musical Instrument (U.M.I.), and this instrument was manufactured before the U.M.I. era. As this instrument is over 40 years old, it naturally shows signs of use and age. However, repairs such as fixing dents and reinforcing fatigued areas of the slide brace have been properly carried out. The inner bell was originally gold-plated, but it has thinned and is now almost entirely silver-plated. The KING 2B offers nimble playability, characteristic of the model, while also producing a warm sound unique to its silver-plated finish. The rich resonance, also typical of KING instruments from this era, is still present. While the 2B is still manufactured today, the method of attaching the brace for the main tuning slide and the construction of the stocking on the inner slide tubing differ from this vintage model. These differences likely contribute to variations in sound. This is a tenor trombone with a silver-plated finish, which is difficult to obtain new. Why not expand your instrument collection with this unique piece? [Instrument Condition Details] - There are signs of use throughout the instrument. - There is minor plating peeling on the inner slide tubing's stocking, but the slide action is good. - The plating is peeled in some areas around the slide grip. The outer slide brace has been reinforced. - The tuning slide shows evidence of dent repair. - The bell body shows evidence of dent repair. - The inside of the bell was originally gold-plated, but it has thinned and is now almost entirely silver-plated. - The plating on the gooseneck is slightly lifting.
