Discover a charming early 20th-century postcard featuring the historic city of Troppau, now Opava, in the region of Silesia. This unique design combines a central vignette of the Troppau cityscape with an elegant border of beautifully adorned women in fashionable hats, evoking the grace and style of the era. The postcard proudly proclaims in German, Die schönsten Mädchen, wie allbekannt, giebt's bei uns im Schlesierland. (The most beautiful girls, as everyone knows, are with us in Silesia), adding a delightful regional charm. Printed by Kunstanstalt Heinrich Gerber from Sternberg in Moravia (No. 994), this piece reflects the artistic printing techniques of the period, likely a chromolithograph, showcasing vibrant colors and intricate details. The postcard bears a clear Troppau postmark dated October 20, 1907, with an original stamp, providing a tangible link to its historical journey through the postal system. This collectible item is a wonderful glimpse into European regional pride and fashion from over a century ago.
