Charming vintage 14k yellow gold bee brooch attributed to Engel Brothers, New York, set with an oval opal cabochon for the body. The bee features beautifully textured wings and detailed legs, giving it a very lifelike, mid-century look. Details: Maker: Engel Brothers, New York (hallmark consistent with documented Engel Bros. marks) Metal: Solid 14k gold (marked “14K” on the wing) Stone: Oval opal cabochon body Dimensions: a little over 1 wide x approx. 5/8 tall Weight: 3 grams Closure: traditional pin with secure locking clasp Era: mid-20th century (Engel Bros. was an established New York firm active from the 1930s–1960s, known for high-quality fine and Art Deco jewelry) Style & condition: Delicate texturing on the wings and thorax; sculpted legs and antennae Opal shows soft play-of-color with pastel flashes Nice vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with age; no obvious damage noted to the stone or gold Gently pre-owned, not polished by me This is a beautiful, collectible figural piece—perfect on a lapel, hat, or as part of a curated insect/animal brooch collection. Engel Brothers figural gold pins (birds, cats, insects, etc.) are sought after by collectors and don’t show up as often as generic 14k pins. ⚠️ Disclaimer: Maker attribution is based on hallmarks and design consistent with documented Engel Brothers pieces; this brooch has not been professionally authenticated by the manufacturer. Opal has not been lab tested.
