A jewel of mid-century artistry, this vintage 1940s reverse carved lucite brooch captures the elegance and ingenuity of early modern jewelry design. Delicate floral imagery appears suspended within crystal-clear lucite, creating a luminous, dimensional effect that glows beautifully as it catches the light. Reverse carving is a fascinating technique in which the design is hand-carved into the back of clear lucite and then hand-painted, allowing the image to appear perfectly preserved beneath a smooth glass-like surface. Popular during the 1940s and 1950s, lucite jewelry offered the brilliance of carved gemstones with the innovation of modern plastics, making these pieces both artistic and collectible today. The floral motif evokes timeless garden beauty—graceful, romantic, and effortlessly sophisticated.
