Kirie Goshuin (Paper Cutting) Limited Edition for the Year of the Horse at Takekoma Shrine, one of Japan's Three Great Inari Shrines * The backing paper for the kirie is silver. * Takekoma Shrine has a very strong connection with horses. It has long been known as a horse trading center, and historically, horse markets were held at the shrine. Hatsuuma Grand Festival The Hatsuuma Grand Festival is the largest event at Takekoma Shrine and is held as a festival to prepare for the year's agriculture and sericulture. In the past, horse markets were held for as long as 100 days. The Hatsuuma Festival at Takekoma Shrine was the precursor to spring festivals in the Tohoku region. It is said that entertainment organizers from various regions gathered to hold their first performances of the year and discuss their touring schedules. As the enshrined deity is the god of all grains and a guardian deity of sericulture, people from the six prefectures of Tohoku prayed for a bountiful harvest, safety in agriculture, and good fortune for their families. Fuku-mairi (Fortune Pilgrimage) This Hatsuuma Grand Festival, which has been considered a festival announcing spring in the ancient land of Mutsu, has been believed to be a Fuku-mairi (fortune pilgrimage) where one can receive the divine blessings of Inari Okami, who governs the creation and development of all things, and abundant wealth. Year of the Horse Special Year at Takekoma Shrine 2026 (Reiwa 8) is a special year of Hinoe-uma (丙午) in the sexagenary cycle, occurring once every 60 years. A Year of Leaping Forward Symbolizing the strong power of burning fire, this is a special year that powerfully advances one's life luck, representing vitality, progress, leaps, success, prosperity, and luck in competitions. Everything will go well in a positive way. [Details] Takekoma Shrine, a sacred shrine with over 1000 years of history, located in Iwanuma City, Miyagi Prefecture, is counted as one of Japan's Three Great Inari Shrines. On March 6, Reiwa 7 (2025), the Statue of Masamune Date on Horseback was designated as a tangible cultural property of Iwanuma City. The blessings of Inari Okami are diverse, including industrial development, abundant harvests, and business prosperity, but they are particularly adept at bringing work and money. Takekoma Shrine, being an Inari shrine, is a blessed shrine that directly brings work and money when invoked to places where negative energy or impurities have been cleared. * New and unused.
