This is a Yosegi-zukuri (parquetry) wooden vase, approximately 30cm in height. It was purchased in Hakone about 30 years ago. It was used as a single-flower vase for a period, but has since been stored long-term in a storage area. Height: Approx. 30cm Top opening: Approx. 4.3cm Base diameter: Approx. 6.5cm Internal pulp insert (vase liner): Length approx. 14.3cm / Inner diameter approx. 2.7cm There are a few scratches on the exterior; please check the photos. The photos of the scratched areas are taken to emphasize the damage. Overall, there is no major damage. Please check the condition in the photos. Hakone Yosegi-zaiku is a traditional craft of Hakone, said to have originated in the late Edo period. It is characterized by a sophisticated technique of creating geometric patterns using the natural colors of different woods, then shaving them thinly and joining them together. It is still known today as a representative traditional craft of Kanagawa Prefecture. This item features beautiful geometric patterns unique to Yosegi, with a calm design that complements both Japanese-style and Western-style rooms. It comes with a pulp insert, allowing you to display fresh flowers. This item is not new. It is an old item and has been stored for a long time, so we ask for your understanding before purchasing. Those seeking new quality items, please refrain from purchasing. We also do not accept price negotiations for this item. #HakoneYosegiZaiku #YosegiZaiku #TraditionalCraft #Vase #WoodenVase #JapaneseInterior #ShowaRetro #Antique Click here for the manufacturer's site
