This object is a vintage dome-top metal lunch box that has been transformed into a box purse or handbag using decoupage folk art techniques. During the 1960s and 1970s, it became a highly popular DIY craft and fashion trend to repurpose utilitarian metal worker lunchboxes (typically manufactured by companies like Thermos or Aladdin). Crafters would paint the metal shell, line the inside with fabric, attach leather or chain handles, and decorate the exterior with cutouts from magazines, newspapers, advertisements, and books before sealing it with a thick varnish. Notable Visual FeaturesDecoupage Cuttings: The exterior features a curated layout of text and illustrations, including a satirical or stylized label reading THE GRABAGE DUNP (mocking a garbage dump) across the front, alongside an image labeled Fashion Editor and a whimsical map layout.Structural Details: It retains the classic dome-top shape originally meant to hold a matching thermos flask under the lid, paired with a customized leather carrying Disclaimer: AI was used in the cover picture all other Pics and descriptions are of the actual item.
