This is a sharp knife with excellent rust resistance and toughness, and I am confident that it is made by the same manufacturer as the current model GM-2014 from a certain company, in terms of appearance, dimensions, and sheath construction. Of course, the stainless steel used by famous brands also stands out for its sharpness and edge retention. While there are some indications that the markings on the main body and sheath are reused from the OEM era of a different overseas manufacturer, this item is suitable for those who do not mind it as a practical tool. Outdoor activities, especially fishing, are notoriously hard on blades. Not only are there common experiences like slipping, dropping, and kicking instead of picking up, but the bones and fins of live fish are surprisingly hard. Knives with an HRC hardness exceeding 60 can frequently develop numerous small chips without you realizing it. There are plenty of potential culprits, such as boat decks, metal boat fittings, fishing hooks, pliers, and the corners of cooler boxes. Even at campsites, there are endless elements that can chip an edge, such as tableware and cutlery on tables, pots, and pans. According to Murphy's Law, high-hardness knives are even a reckless challenge for fishing and camping. This product is tenacious, rust-resistant, and its sharpness can be easily restored by stropping with abrasive on leather. Moreover, it is resistant to cracking and chipping; even if dropped on a rock edge-first, the edge will only slightly deform. This reassuring quality, along with the steel choice by a major fishing tackle company, is truly impressive. However, products like these seem to assume that the user will sharpen them themselves, as they do not come with a sharp edge out of the box. The uneven and rough grinder marks actually hinder hand sharpening, making it very difficult to restore a clean edge. This item has been meticulously re-sharpened using a Swedish sharpening machine, TORMEK T-8, to create a uniform edge from base to tip that can easily shave the fine hairs on your arm. Furthermore, the edge angle is 38 degrees (19 degrees per side), so it is not excessively sharpened to a sharp angle, as is often the case with knives marketed as sharp. It is resistant to chipping, has a narrow edge width, and can be re-sharpened without excessive angling. With an edge honed to this degree, sharpness can be easily restored even with hand sharpening on a household whetstone. Those who have already searched for the model name will know its market price.
