● Manufacturer/Brand Fukui Yosho ● Product Name Janome Yosho (Serpentine Umbrella) ● Size (cm) Length 65cm ● Product Description Founded in 1972, originating from Fukui Prefecture. A prestigious brand, Fukui Yosho, handcrafted by artisans. This brand is also famous for being a supplier to the Imperial Household. This is the 65 size model from the popular Janome Yosho series. A rain umbrella that reimagines the traditional Janome-gasa (serpentine umbrella) in a modern style. The fabric uses polyester, leveraging the technology of Fukui Prefecture, a region renowned for its textile industry. The frame is constructed with 24 steel ribs, utilizing techniques found in Sabae eyewear, to achieve both robustness and a beautiful silhouette. Furthermore, the tip (ishizuki) and handle feature Kawada lacquerware, said to be the origin of lacquering in Fukui Prefecture, adding a depth that deepens with use. The opening angle is adjustable in two stages, making it versatile for both Japanese and Western attire. This umbrella is a testament to the charm of Fukui Prefecture, honoring tradition.
