Capture a beautiful piece of historic Rhode Island with this rare, authentic turn-of-the-century porcelain lidded trinket box. The lid features a vibrant, multi-color transferware depiction of the historic Old Stone Mill in Newport, R.I. surrounded by lush green trees and an elegant scalloped border with gold gilt framing. The Landmark: The Old Stone Mill featured on the lid (located in Newport's Touro Park) is one of New England’s most famous historical mysteries. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, it was widely romanticized in literature and local lore, with popular theories claiming it was built by medieval Norse Vikings long before Columbus arrived. Item Specifications: Object Type: Lidded Trinket Box / Powder Jar Origin: Made in Austria (Porcelain Blank) Retailer / Importer: John H. Kazanjian & Co. (Bellevue Ave, Newport, RI) Landmark Featured: The Old Stone Mill (Touro Park, Newport) Dimensions: Approximately 3.5 inches in diameter and 2.25 inches in height Condition: Excellent vintage condition. The transfer imagery is crisp and bright. Gold gilt trim displays minor, charming age-appropriate wear. No major cracks or visible chips (please review photos closely for full cosmetic details).
