Model Name: Seiko Lord Marvel Cal. 5740A Features: A high-end mechanical movement with 23 jewels! This was Seiko's top-tier model before the Grand Seiko was introduced. History: Used around the time of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. The Cal. 5740A found in the Lord Marvel, a historic and luxurious wristwatch series from Seiko, is marked SEIKO 23 JEWELS 5740A on the hand-wound movement, indicating its 23-jewel specification. Cal. 5740A Movement Features and Historical Background: Introduced around 1964, this caliber was developed based on Seiko's renowned Crown movement. It is also known for being the first Seiko movement to have a serial number engraved directly onto the movement itself. Features: A high-end, 23-jewel, hand-wound movement! This is a mechanical marvel that embodies the pinnacle of contemporary technology. Rarity: The Lord Marvel is a precursor model to Seiko's luxury lines, leading the way for the later Grand Seiko. Key Features and Historical Significance of Cal. 5740A: It is known for being the first Seiko movement to feature an individual serial number engraved on it. Performance: A low-beat movement operating at 18,000 vibrations per hour (5 beats per second).
